Welcome to ‘Waisting Away…in Nutritionville’, my
commentary about nutrition, fitness and health in general. It’s also about my
experiences as a participant in a series of group Wellness and Nutrition programs conducted by my primary care physician and a licensed dietitian in their practice and how the changes
I made toward a fit and healthy lifestyle and a nutritious diet produced a
significant loss in my weight, inches in my waist (hence the title) and a whole
new outlook just in the process of living my life.
The site is
home to Healthy Cooking...with
Howard is a series of instructional cooking shows that will shortly be available for viewing on LexMedia, Lexington MA's local access cable channel.
The episodes, scheduled for filming beginning the summer od 2012, are focused on healthy preparation of nutritious food. The concept was conceived in part from my
desire to “pay forward” my good fortune to have participated in the Wellness and Nutrition programs the results of which have been transformative
for me. The episodes will be available for viewing on the “Healthy Cooking...with Howard” page; the recipes
for the meals depicted in the videos will be available on the "Recipes"
page or upon request via email: healthycookingwithhoward@comcast.net
The site is
also home to ‘Walking
with Howard…’, a walking clinic I conduct that is another outgrowth
of the transformed “me”. Its goals are to assist those who are interested in
walking for its cardiovascular/aerobic benefit, in getting started with the
regimen, to help those who have already begun a walking program, in raising it
up a notch, to be a resource and sounding board about appropriate technique,
footwear, apparel, accountability, etc. and for those interested in any or all
of the prior goals, to create a “community” that meets, periodically, to walk
and have fun! Information about the clinic, getting started, training, apparel,
etc. are available on the ‘Walking with Howard…’ page or upon request
via email: walkingwithhoward@comcast.net
Thank you for
visiting the site. It’s still a work-in-process so check back again; I’d be
delighted to hear what you think.
